Parents & Citizens Association

The role of school P&C Associations has become much more involved than the traditional fund-raising function.
Due to the changing nature of education, parents have greater input into decision making in schools. There are many informal groups that you can become involved in.
These groups usually meet monthly or as required.
We need many interested people to give a little of their time to ensure effective parent involvement at Bli Bli State School and to form a caring community.
So come along to your P&C meetings and become involved in your school. Meetings are held in the school staff room on the last Wednesday of each month at 7.15pm.

P&C Executive
This consists of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and assistant treasurer. These people ensure each monthly meeting runs smoothly and effectively. Nominations are called for the AGM (held in December) on the last Wednesday in October.

School Safety Committee
A parent representative meets with staff representatives to ensure high standards of health and safety are maintained at school, as well as to and from school.

Fund-Raising
2 - 4 parents who are interested in sharing and implementing their ideas on fundraising present information to P&C meetings.

After School Care
This is a great service requiring administration by a sub-committee of 4 parents.

Uniform Committee
3 - 5 parents are needed to assist the uniform convenor in running this important service of ordering and selling uniforms. Pre loved uniforms are also available and require 2-3 parent volunteers.

Parent Liaisons
Each year a parent is nominated to be the parent liaison person for each class in the school. Their purpose is to improve the communication between home and school and the image of our school.

Tuckshop Committee
3 - 5 parents are needed to support the Tuckshop Convenor. A treasurer is required to fulfill book keeping obligations.

Tuckshop
Convenor Wendy Walters welcomes parents to assist in tuckshop and with home cooking on each week day on a monthly basis.

Lunch Order Procedure
1st lunch and 2nd lunch orders are to be written on separate brown paper bags with your child's name, class and the money inside. The bags are placed in the tuckshop basket in the classroom and then sent over to the tuckshop. If an order is on an envelope, 5c extra needs to be included for the cost of the bag. Any change will be stapled in the corner of the bag and children should be reminded to check their bags before throwing them away.
All lunch items must be ordered by 9.30am.
The 1st lunch orders are collected from the tuckshop in the basket at 10.40am and taken to the classroom where they are distributed by the teacher.
The 2nd lunch orders are collected from the tuckshop in the basket at 12.50pm and are again taken to the classroom where they are distributed by the teacher.
Home cooking, Blast Off desserts and drinks are available over the counter during 1st lunch. Jelly cups, ice blocks, drinks etc are available for purchase over the counter during 2nd lunch break.

Book Convenor
A parent is responsible for the organizing of all stationery and text books for the start of the school year. This process involves recommendations from teaching staff and admin. This person is nominated towards the end of each year.

Publicity Officers
Two parents liaise with parents and the community on P&C matters and keep the school community well informed about P&C business.

Voluntary Contribution Scheme

The P&C Association have a voluntary contribution scheme for its building fund. Parents are asked to support their child's education by participating in this scheme. Contributions sought are:
*
donation of $50 per child
* OR donation of $80 per family
This contribution is usually paid early in the year e.g. with books and uniform purchases. A payment scheme can be arranged through the office.
However, if you would like to make a larger donation, it would be greatly appreciated. All donations are confidential.
This contribution is now a tax deduction.
